Caela Bailey

The Gospel of the Gutter Queen

September 14th, 2018

Doors at 7:00 - Show at 7:30
The Palindrome - Eaglemount Wine and Cider

Street-princess-turned-Gutter Queen, Caela is a vibrant offshoot of the world infamous traveling vaudeville troupe, the Royal Famille du Caniveaux (The Royal Family of the Gutter). She hit her first high note the day she was born, in the home of the famous juggling troupe, the Flying Karamozov Brothers. The daughter of songwriter Ron W. Bailey & aerialist Cathy Sutherland (founders of the Seattle Moisture Festival), Caela grew up surrounded by street performers, circus legends, burlesque stars and incredible musicians while traveling and performing around America & Europe.

Through music, storytelling, video and comedy, Caela will explore the path that has brought her this far. It is the story of her participation in the vibrant Seattle arts community as well as the city's changing racial and cultural landscape. Whether it be tales of growing up in the circus and cabaret world, navigating the Seattle public school system, keeping her dreams afloat by working outlandish side-hustles (professional princess and Lady Gaga impersonator to name a few), or finally releasing her debut album The Gospel of The Gutter Queen, featuring over 50 musicians, it has been one wild ride and Caela can't wait to relive it all with you!

Doors to the Palindrome open at 7pm and the show kicks off at 7:30. For the first hour of her performance Caela will share songs and stories from her crazy childhood, weaving in and out of Port Townsend and her connections with some of well known local characters. Afterward, chairs will be removed to make way for a ruckus dance party.  Eaglemount wine and cider will be available throughout the evening in the adjacent tap room.
